My Faith

My Reason for everything in this life can be summed up with one simple, yet life changing, name: Jesus.  My reason for living is wrapped up in the fact that I have a personal relationship with Him.  You may have heard that expression or similar ones before, but I want to take a moment of your time to explain what it really means to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Why do we NEED Him?
We are all different people with different lives....different circumstances.....different challenges....different victories.  But one thing we have in common, regardless of these differences, is that we all mess up.  We all say and do things that we so wish we could take back.   Even though we all feel like we have the best of intentions and try so hard to be good people, we still fall short.....still have many nights we lay in bed and think about our little regrets of the day.

We all know how it feels to have a distance in a relationship with someone....how bad and just plain wrong it feels.  With God, there is only ONE way to close this gap.  He sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross for us.  When Jesus died, he took on all our sins and paid the penalty in our place.

How do we START a relationship with Him?
We must acknowledge that we are sinners and that, no matter how hard we try, we still make mistakes....even our our best days.
We need to accept that Jesus died for us.....making it personal.  When we pray and simply acknowledge we are sinners, believe that Jesus died for our sin, and commit to live for Him, we become HIS....and the RELATIONSHIP begins!

I've Started my relationship with Jesus....Now What?
Once we become a Christian (which means 'Christ Follower') that doesn't mean that suddenly life will be perfect.  We will still sin, but that doesn't take away our relationship with Christ.  When we sin, we need to ask Him to forgive us.....and HE WILL
We are not exempt from bad times as Christians.  We will still have struggles, illness, tragedy, but the difference is that we have a Holy and Perfect God who walks with us through it.  We have a hope and a future and we know that no matter what happens to us here on this earth.....eternity in Heaven is waiting for us at the end of this life.  There will be no more sorrow, no tears, no sin in Heaven.......just perfect, complete fellowship with Jesus.....the Reason for everything.
